"The Answer" Modern Mechanical Koi Pond Filter System
The Answer is a self backwashing mechanical screen fine screen
filter that delivers excellent water clarity and protects the bio
stage from unwanted solid materials. As described by Peter
Waddington "Quite simply the most amazing pond invention I've seen
in my life. It will revolutionise fish keeping as we know it."
The Answer is the ultimate in Koi pond mechanical filters. It
operates as a very fine sieve that offers a unique ability to self
clean. It is equipped with an Oase pump specially modified for the
purpose. The Answer will reduce your Koi pond maintenance workload,
in some cases, dramatically. The Answer will outperform vortex
filters dramatically, saving not only in terms of the cost of space
and installation of vortex filters (which are typically bulky units)
but also in terms of removing particles from the water that no
vortex has a chance of even detecting.
The benefits of the Answer are enormous when compared to a sand filter. Have you read my article on sand filters yet? There is a link to it below.
Because the bio stage is effectively shielded from all solid particles of any significant size, less cleaning of the bio media will result. This saves you work, and more importantly, your Koi are not subjected to erratic bio filter performance due to the nitrifying bacterial colonies being disturbed and or destroyed.
Further, because the Answer is so efficient at collecting solid wastes, collection and purging of these wastes is more efficient. You will use less water to get rid of more solid waste. In the event of you using a Nexus, a simple opening of a purge valve for a few seconds daily will do the job. You might even miss a day without serious consequences.
The Answer runs in an aerobic environment, assuming that you have some dissolved oxygen in your Koi pond - it would be a bit difficult to keep your Koi alive without it!! There is NO possibility of dead spots or channeling as can happen with sand filters.
There's more. The opportunity for bacteriological action taking place at the Answer is practically zero. This means that there will be no opportunity for heterotrophic bacteria to cause unpleasant environments for the nitrification bacteria. The only possible place for these unwanted bacteria to collect would be in the solids themselves, and the whole lot would then be purged straight out of the Koi pond system.
The Answer truly represents a wonder in modern up to date Koi pond filtration systems. Not only are the bio filters going to be grateful for the removal of the solids deluge that they have been subjected to up until now, but the water clarity in your Koi pond will be afforded the opportunity of being the best it can be. Note that the Answer will NOT remove algae blooms.
Not yet, anyway. So what about sand filters then? This article
