Planting is best done mid-spring through to early summer. Water is getting warmer and plants will grow better.

Make sure you get appropriate container for the size of the plant and allowing for growth

For plant basket stability use large rocks, stones or large river pebbles. It is often a good idea to place this ballast in bottom of larger planters if plants grow tall.

Part fill the container with compost and new aquatic or water garden plants should be planted to the same depth as in the original container you bought the pond plant in.
